The PIPE Collection in the Spotlight
Czech Design Week 2024
5.-8.9.2024
An annual showcase of contemporary design and artistic creation. We believe that design is an integral part of our lives and influences all areas of society. That’s why Czech Design Week is open to everyone – designers, creators, professionals, general audiences, and businesses alike.
The exhibition offers a creative perspective on the use of waste and sewer pipes in art and design. This innovative concept showcases objects created by transforming these materials, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and recycling. The exhibition’s goal is not only to provide an aesthetic experience but also to inspire visitors to think about the role of recycling and sustainability in the world of visual arts.
Bratislava Design Week 2024
16.-20.10.2024
Bratislava Design Week is a leading platform for presenting contemporary Slovak and international design. The festival provides a space for established and emerging designers, manufacturers, distributors, students, individuals, and collectives to showcase their work to the public.
The theme of this year’s edition is Relationships. Designers are invited to reflect on how their work influences people, environments, and interactions. Relationships in design can take many forms – from the connection between materials and technologies to the emotional bonds between users and objects.
What Do Relationships Mean to Me?
As a designer, relationships represent a key connection between my ideas, users, and the environment in which my designs exist. I perceive them as a dialogue between form and function, where each design element affects the experience and interaction of people with a product. Cultivating these relationships allows me to create works that not only have aesthetic appeal but also carry deeper meaning and a positive impact on the world.

Author: Mgr. Zdeněk Svoboda
In the penultimate week of November, the former Ostravica-Textilia department store hosted the ninth edition of the international festival Meat Design Ostrava. Thousands of visitors enjoyed sales exhibitions, lectures, and workshops by leading designers and architects.
One of the standout projects was the PIPE collection by Slovak designer Lucia Kružlicová. This children’s furniture series was created by repurposing plastic construction pipes, highlighting the importance of recycling and sustainable design. The idea that waste doesn’t have to be a byproduct but can instead be a valuable resource gained significant attention and recognition.
