Bold Play: TENNIS at Designblok

The new TENNIS collection by LUKRU design was showcased at two major international design events in Prague — Czech Design Week 2025 and Designblok 2025. The project by designer Lucia Kružlicová continues the studio’s focus on emotional and sustainable design while exploring the creative potential of overlooked materials.

Czech Design Week 2025

11.-14.9.2025

The collection was first presented during Czech Design Week from 11–14 September 2025. The festival celebrates contemporary design and artistic creation while supporting both established and emerging designers. Within this context, the TENNIS collection introduced a playful and sustainable approach to furniture and lighting design.

Inspired by the philosophy of the emotionaLAB project, the collection transforms used tennis balls and discarded garden hoses into expressive design objects. The installation highlighted the potential of materials originally created for completely different purposes and reimagined them as emotionally engaging and aesthetically valuable pieces.

Designblok Prague 2025

7.-12.10.2025

The TENNIS collection was later presented at Designblok Prague from 7–12 October 2025, one of Europe’s leading design festivals. This year’s theme, Courage, encouraged designers to challenge conventions, experiment with materials and present bold new perspectives on contemporary design.

The TENNIS installation reflected this idea through its unconventional use of sports waste materials and its playful interpretation of a tennis-inspired environment. By transforming discarded tennis balls and garden hoses into functional objects, the project explored courage not only in form and material experimentation, but also in rethinking how waste can be perceived in design.
