From Waste to Design Treasure

How can waste be transformed into a work of art? The answer lies in the new TENNIS collection by designer Lucia Kružlicová. This unique project demonstrates that even ordinary and often overlooked materials – such as used tennis balls and garden hoses – can be given a new life, this time in the form of playful children’s furniture and original lighting fixtures.

The TENNIS collection builds on the philosophy of the emotionaLAB project, which emphasizes emotion, playfulness, and sustainability. The aim is not only to create an aesthetically attractive product but also to spark a conversation about responsible design and the possibilities of recycling.
Every piece in the collection has its own story – tennis balls that have retired from the court and hoses destined for disposal are transformed into functional and beautiful objects.

LOOPIE is a striking seating object with a decorative bow made from a garden hose. It represents playfulness and emotion, showcasing the creative potential of reused materials and proving that sustainability can be functional, beautiful and fun.

BALLUSTRIA is a pendant lamp made from tennis balls and inspired by historical chandeliers. It merges traditional elegance with contemporary ecological design, transforming waste into a poetic light object.

LOBELIER blends playfulness, light and form in a decorative lighting piece made from reused materials. It offers a new perspective on the aesthetics of recycled objects and their potential to become striking interior elements.

LOPPY is a playful children’s seat defined by used tennis balls. Their softness, color and shape bring energy and movement into the object. The project explores the relationship between material, emotion and function, showing that recycling can be a creative act.

The collection was presented at Czech Design Week (11–14 September 2025) and later at Designblok in Prague (7–12 October 2025).
