LUKRU Design at Czech Design Week:
When Design Evokes Emotions
Czech Design Week X
Gallery Manes Prague
From September 7th to September 10th, 2023, the 10th anniversary edition of the international festival of design and artistic creation, Czech Design Week, took place at the Mánes Gallery on the banks of the Vltava River in Prague. The event showcased the latest trends in interior design, product design, glass, ceramics, fashion, jewelry, graphic design, and visual arts. Over 120 established artists, designers, emerging studios, startups, and brands, as well as students from the Czech Republic and abroad, exhibited their work through panel installations. The exhibition was open to both professionals and the general public.
At the event, LUKRU Design presented its project “emotionaLAB”, which explores the idea that the aesthetic appeal and enjoyment of a product are just as important as its function. Positive emotions create a stronger response to a product, making it more memorable and attractive to potential customers and users. The use of eco-friendly, recycled materials enhances positive emotions while raising awareness about the transformation of waste into valuable products suitable for mass production.
Czech Design Award 2023
A professional jury of 14 experts from the fields of design, theory, education, and media anonymously voted during the festival, evaluating the exhibited designs and installations. The best works were awarded in categories such as Discovery of the Year, Best of Design, Best Installation, Jury Special Recognition, Festival Special Recognition, and the Festival Award.
In a highly competitive environment, LUKRU Design won the Czech Design Award 2023 in the category of Best Installation. The jury appreciated the playfulness and positivity of the installation, as well as the composition featuring both the products and the motif of jumping, playful animals in a meadow.
The Czech Design Award supports students, emerging designers, and artistic creators while providing a platform for established designers, studios, and brands that offer high-quality design in various artistic fields. The award recognizes outstanding design work in fashion, jewelry, product design, graphics, and visual arts. The trophy itself is an exclusive, handcrafted glass vase, created as a limited edition by František Jungvirt specifically for this festival.
